As for the 1st travel log posting, here are my general ideology of travel for the sake of not wasting money.
Based on this rule, we plan every travel.
Long wish came true! Hunting for aurora!
Arrived at 5 AM on 25th local time. We went to rent a car first.
A lot of would have same question that I had. Would you get all the insurance? Here is my answer. No. It’s a personal preference. Sure, safety and all that. I am all up for it too. But ask yourself first. Are you honestly a safe driver? Of course it’s not always you who causes accident and it can happen anytime to anyone. That’s why you get insurance. Well, I personally think that my rental car insurance is total waste of money. Not to mention that my Chase Sapphire covers rental car anyways. They will list all the risks from dust blasting car pain to roadside assistance. Forget it. I never had rental car insurance, I never had problem.
Anyways…
Our first destination was to Reykjavík.
First place we went was this 24 market. You will see and go this place a lot if you are not much of dinning out person. I did some homework before I went to Iceland and found out that the food is not much different from US, burgers, chips… I am not so much fan of American style food anyways.
Our first night at the Reykjavík Hostel Village.
to be continued… =]
A couple of days ago, I had a bad experience with Bitstamp with their slow processing of money transfer verification. So, instead, I went ahead and did some research and looked at AMD stock. A couple of years ago, when bitcoin hit $1400 for the first time, AMD stock took off along with it due to AMD’s graphic card demand.
10.90 was when I jumped in. At the time of writing this, it’s hitting at 12.67 and I expect to rise back close to its high record of $15.
Well. I must say that it was one of the easiest(?) site to get verified. Or may be I should rather say… fastest site that I got verified. With that high hope, I took a chance to make pretty big move. Instead of doing wire transfer that takes 5 business days to deliver, I used credit card with hefty 5% transaction fee. At that time, the bitcoin was around $2300. I was expecting about 25% return when I sell that bitcoin in Korea.
Guess what. They had to verify the credit card… are you kidding me? Bitstamp asked to take selfie with the credit card to verify. Ok. Knowing that they were pretty quick with verification, I went ahead and started the transaction. Guess how long it took for the amount to be verified and applied to my account. 3 DAYS!!!!!!! Mean while, price of bitcoin increased to $2550!
That’s not all! I “deposited” money to my account, not purchased bitcoin. As soon as the verification was done, they automatically bought the coin at the time of verification. So, I lost the chance of making 25% gain, and because they automatically purchased the bitcoin in stead of depositing the amount to my account, now the gain is less than 7%.
The ultimate worst experience ever with bitcoin transaction. I cannot believe it!!!
I am walking away with 7% gain but this is sad. No more Bitstamp in my life. EVER!!!!
And… now. Let’s see how long it will take for them to transfer that bitcoin to my other wallet. No. I didn’t use that instant transfer with 0.1% fee. You, Bitstamp, are not going to steal another penny from my pocket. >=[
