As for the 1st travel log posting, here are my general ideology of travel for the sake of not wasting money.
- We (my wife and I) don’t care where we sleep. Cheapest yet clean possible.
- Unless a food is very significant and very appealing, we do not dine out.
- We explore as much as possible.
Based on this rule, we plan every travel.
Long wish came true! Hunting for aurora!
Arrived at 5 AM on 25th local time. We went to rent a car first.
A lot of would have same question that I had. Would you get all the insurance? Here is my answer. No. It’s a personal preference. Sure, safety and all that. I am all up for it too. But ask yourself first. Are you honestly a safe driver? Of course it’s not always you who causes accident and it can happen anytime to anyone. That’s why you get insurance. Well, I personally think that my rental car insurance is total waste of money. Not to mention that my Chase Sapphire covers rental car anyways. They will list all the risks from dust blasting car pain to roadside assistance. Forget it. I never had rental car insurance, I never had problem.
Anyways…
Our first destination was to Reykjavík.
First place we went was this 24 market. You will see and go this place a lot if you are not much of dinning out person. I did some homework before I went to Iceland and found out that the food is not much different from US, burgers, chips… I am not so much fan of American style food anyways.
Our first night at the Reykjavík Hostel Village.
