Cgminer “rotate” command

Let’s learn about new command rotate.

–rotate # (there are two of – before rotate.)

# indicates minutes.
So, what this does is rotating mining servers. If you set –rotate 5, then rig will log in to 1st pool for 5 minutes then it will run 2nd pool after that.

You can use this command for you to compare different pools in given period of time without you trying to log in an out.

New challenge with XFX 7950 GPUs

So yes. I am on my 2nd rig. Happened to purchase XFX GPUs by posting from litecoin mining hardware comparison site. It is a reference but not 100% trustworthy. My XFX TDKC is not even near 700s as indicated in that site. Argh.. -_-;;
Well, I purchased for less anyways so I guess it is what it is.

I got 2 TDKC and 1 TDFC. 2 TDKC are currently running around 550KH/s without any changes. Weird thing is when all 3 of them are running at the same time, TDFC runs around 500 and one of TDKC runs less than 500. hum…. and TDFC runs like close 80 degree C. I don’t like that either…

I am in middle of decision. Either get rid of that TDFC and get another TDKC or try to set separate batch file and tweak it. Let’s see how it goes…

At least, I met my goal of getting 1LTC/day (currently at ~1.3 LTC/day) running with 3.5 MH/s total.

Cgminer failover only command in batch file

Time to time, your pool server goes out of service for maintenance or some other odd reasons. When you are not around there is no way to know and you don’t want to be around your rig all day long to change any settings. That’s is not passive income!!!

Well, here is the solution. Failover only command in batch file.

–failover-only -o stratum+tcp://NEW POOL URL:3333 -u user -p password

*There are two dash lines in front of failver-only. – – (Type two dash lines without space. I had to put space for you to see in this blog.)

Add this to the batch file that you are currently running. Whenever your pool server is down, it will automatically log in to other pool and start mining there until you restart your batch file to go back to your original pool. Yeah.. there isn’t cgminer setting that can detect server back in service and log back into original server again. At least that’s what I know so far. =p

It is confirmed that after 1st server is down, failover command automatically logs in to 2nd server then once 1st server is back up, failover command returns the log back in to 1st server.
Also, you can have multiple server listed with failover command.

Cgminer batch file set up for individual GPUs

This setting is ideal for testing each GPU and set to its maximum performance especially when each card is different brands/models/editions/etc.

For my example, I have 2 same FXF and 1 older version of FXF 7950s.

I made 2 batch files.
#1 miner_start0.bat
#2 miner_start1.bat

In miner_start0.bat, it’s designated for the older version of XFX. So, in the batch file I included -d 0. This isolates control of all but the card that is recognized as 0 on your motherboard.

In miner_start1.bat, it’s designaed for the 2 other XFX. So, in the batch file I included -d 1,2. This controls 2 other XFX cards at once.

If you run only miner_start0.bat file, you will see device 1 and 2 are shown “OFF”.

This is picture of my system running miner_start1.bat file with device 0 “OFF” and 1 and 2 are running.

If you want to control each GPUs separately, you can do so by putting -d # on each batch file.

cgminer 세팅입니다.

여기에 설명할 cgminer 세팅은 제가 사용하는 그래픽 카드(Gigabyte R9 280X)를 기준으로 함을 알려드립니다.

다른 그래픽 카드는 여기를 가서 보시면 됩니다.

저의 그래픽 카드를 보기로 하면 이렇네요. 음… 766kH/s 괜찮은데요. ㅋ

오늘 내장하드가 도착을 하니 테스트 해보고 정확한 숫자를 올리겠습니다.

일단 cgminer를 설치하신 후 설치된 폴더 안으로 가셔서 bat 파일을 하나 만들어야 합니다. 노트페드를 열고 아래의 코드를 넣고 (아무 이름).bat로 세이브 합니다. 저는 cgminerstart.bat로 만들었습니다.

음.. 블로그의 코딩이 그런지는 모르지만 scrypt, thread-concurrency 앞에 – 가 하나가 아니고 두개임을 알립니다. ㅡㅡa

timeout /t 30 – cgminer가 켜진 후 30초 후에 채굴을 시작한다는 커멘드 입니다. 보통 집에 전기가 잠시 나갔다가 다시 들어오면 자동으로 컴퓨터를 켜지게 하고 cgminer가 자동으로 실행될때 사용됩니다.
cgminer – bat파일이 실행될때 cgminer를 실행하라는 커멘드 입니다.
scrypt – 라이트코인은 scrypt 라는 코딩을 기본으로 하는 프로그램 이기에 scrypt를 돌려라 하는 커멘드 입니다.
i – 채굴의 강도
thread-concurrency –
o stratum+tcp:// – 여기에는 채굴 pool의 주소를 넣습니다.
u – 워커 아이디
p – 워커 암호보편적으로 이게 기본입니다. 여기에 더 들어가는 코딩들이 있는데 그건 제가 세팅을 본격적으로 시작하면서 올리겠습니다.
